Job Brief:

As a Technical Proposal Writer, your key responsibilities will be to develop proposal content in coordination with Project Managers, and Contract Administrators. The Proposal Writer must be detailed oriented, highly organized, and possess strong time management skills. Critical to success are excellent written and oral communication skills, the ability to work independently and as part of a team, and to multi-task and work within tight deadlines.

Key responsibilities:

  • Reading, reviewing, writing, coordinating overall preparation of proposals and ensuring proposal complies with all Request for Proposal (RFP) requirements.
  • Completing application and service requirements matrices within RFPs.
  • Reading, reviewing and understanding user manuals.
  • Project management of RFP response process.
  • Setting and meeting deadlines for content development.
  • Prepare proposals with a thorough understanding of evaluation criteria and winning strategies.
  • Use analytical, editorial, and writing skills to help proposal teams develop persuasive messages and focused proposal language relating to prospect's expectations and our firm's differentiators/competitive advantages.
  • Review written sections to ensure inclusion of win themes/strategies and discriminators in the document and compliance with formats dictated in the RFP/RFI and proposal plan.
  • Maintain the proposal responses within SharePoint in an organized manner so that data can be retrieved rapidly for reused in other proposals as needed.
  • Write clear, persuasive, and articulate proposal sections that translate complex ideas into easily understandable text.
  • Use organizational skills to track and report on assignments, status, and issues and needs.
  • Identify, resolve, and escalate technical gaps and risks to proposal.
  • Develop and implement improvements to help improve proposal technical quality (processes, examples, guidance, etc.). 

     

Education and Experience:

  • 3–5 years of experience working with bids.
  • Experience working with a capture teams to facilitate the development of gap analysis, win themes, discriminators, and competitive analysis.
  • Demonstrated ability delivering proposals that are compliant with the RFP requirements and are consistent with the direction of the capture team.
  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant topical area and/or English, Communications, or a technical discipline required. Master’s degree preferred.
  • Ability to produce technical documents and proposals following a structured methodology for proposal development.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills resulting in the ability to work with a broad variety of people.
  • Must be self-confident, articulate and analytical.
  • Must be a good writer able to integrate knowledge from internet research and relevant company past performance.
  • Excellent strategic thinker and ability to formulate discriminators.
  • Must be well organized with good attention to detail and be able to exercise good judgment and discretion.
  • Must have the ability to work under the pressure of deadlines and to handle more than one assignment concurrently.
  • Must be able to work without close supervision as part of integrated functional teams.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word; Excel; PowerPoint; Outlook; SharePoint; and graphics software such as Visio, Illustrator, Photoshop, and/or other related software.
